Seasons Greetings from your local Hawthorn representatives
Mr. John Kennedy
MP State Member of Hawthorn “For many of us the four weeks of Christmas, New Year and Australia Day are a great time to relax and reflect. May you enjoy relaxing times with your family and friends and may this season also be for a little personal reflection away from the distracting hustle and bustle of the months ahead. As the new Member for Hawthorn looking forward to serving you in 2019 and beyond I wish you the compliments of the season."
What are your plans this holiday season? “After the very hectic activity of these last few weeks since the Victorian election my wife Bronwyn Lane and I will take a break at the beach and simply enjoy family and friends. Then, on Monday 7 January it is back to work in my brand new job!"
Mr. John Pesutto
Former MP State Member of Hawthorn (2014-2018) Shadow Attorney General
“I would like to thank all traders, residents and shoppers for every- thing you do to make Hawthorn and Glenferrie such a wonderful place to live, work and enjoy.
As your local State MP, I have worked hard to keep this area safe and vibrant. If you have any issues you would like to raise, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I would like to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.”
Are you a last minute gift shopper? “I like to use the excuse of my job as the reason why, but I must admit, I have always been a last minute shopper. I love the shops along Glenferrie Road to get those last minute gifts.”
Cr. Steve Hurd
Glenferrie Ward Councillor
“Once again we have reached the holiday season, they say the older you get the quicker the years pass! It’s been another busy year on Council. I have been actively pushing for a major project to look at the needs of the Glenferrie shopping precinct into the future. I’m pleased to report that over the next two years there will be real progress. Council will be taking a holistic look at the Glenferrie precinct, this will involve collaboration with stake- holders regarding what the future will look like. Stay tuned! I wish you all good trading and happy times for the holiday and new year period."
As a child what was the best gift you ever recieved and a gift you always wanted? Best gift: “A short wave radio when I was 16.”
Always wanted: “An electric car that I could drive.”
The Hon. Josh Frydenberg MP
Federal Member of Kooyong
Treasurer of Australia
“Small business is the backbone of our economy. The Morrison Government supports small business with initiatives including fast tracking tax relief, estab- lishing the $2 billion Australian Business Securitisation Fund which provides funding to smaller banks to on-lend to small businesses on more competitive terms and extending the instant asset write off. These initiatives ease the burden on local business owners so they can continue to grow their business and contribute to the economic growth of our nation. I wish all the Glenferrie community a very successful Christmas season and all the best for the New Year.”
What’s the best gift you’ve ever given? “Tennis racquet to my kids in the hope they take up the game!”
(Hon. Josh Frydenberg had a gap year playing tennis full-time and training at a Queensland tennis academy.)
