Trouble Near Glenferrie Oval

For several weeks now, the vandalism, drug use and overall trashing of the barbecue area next to the Glenferrie Oval and the Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre has featured in the local paper the Progress Leader. Former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett and Hawthorn State Liberal MP John Pesutto have made comment and shared their concerns about the state of the public space.

Boroondara Council's Suggestions to improve the safety of the area have included more police patrols, removal of the barbecue completely and a change in vegetation (as there is a large group of trees surrounding the area), extra CCTV cameras or more lighting. Police and locals have been urged to work together to resolve this issue.
